It's amazing to see how one little period or a kama can make such a big difference. We have the opportunity during Elul to say L'David, after davening, Ashkenazim, Shach Isma'irev, Yom Soch Sva'ad, Shach Isamimcha, so many of us are quick to get into it. It's exciting. Right away we say L'David HaShemayiv Yeshi. That's a problem because then it's all about David HaMelech, and that's not really the right touch in the Possek. The Possek goes like this, L'David HaShemayiv Yeshi. Meaning to say that this is David HaMelech's song. L'David, in other words, in English you would say, by David. Now it starts, HaShemayiv Yeshi.
If everyone for 30 straight days, really much more, because we can say it all the way through to Shemini Yetziris. If everyone would be saying L'David with that concept, of saying every day, twice a day, HaShemayiv Yeshi Mimiyirah. HaShem is my salvation, it's my light. Why should I be afraid? It's a game changer. When a person could approach life like that, HaShemayiv Yeshi Mimiyirah, there's a whole different approach to everything. So I think if we can all together, just focus on that one thing, L'David, period. Good. Then, HaShemayiv Yeshi Mimiyirah, it's going to be a game changer. We're going to have a beautiful Aliyah from it. I just want to add quickly a nice word that I saw.
Once, B'Shem, Ba'al Shem Tovah, Shem Ba'aditchavah, the both of us saying, you said, and Kisay say, we still have to pass to Shavisa Shuvya. It's an interesting Lashon, because it basically says, captive the one who we capture. It doesn't say to capture. It's an interesting Lashon. Shavisa sounds like you, you yourself should be a captor. Why is that? Why do we use that Lashon? Shavisa is a P'ulosh. It's not about us. It's not about us being the captor of the captive. Why is it a verb about us? It says, Ba'al Shem Tov, no, because you have to realize that when we're taking someone captive, and in our Avodah, who are we taking captive always? The Yetzirah.
We have to know from how the Yetzirah himself is, how we have to grow, or the tricks that we can use to be able to be on top. Famous example that they always bring. In other words, if we see that the Yetzirah creates laziness, say, oh, I'm a lazy person. I can't go do an Avera. Or if we see that the Yetzirah is the opposite, it's very rash, very impulsive. So we have Zvizis for Mitzvahs. I don't care what's going on in my schedule. I run to Daven to get there first before it starts. You see that we're stingy. I'll be stingy with Divrei Avera. I won't put my money in things that aren't good for me. Let's say like overeating, for example, or freshening in a way that's inappropriate.
The idea is that we can learn how our captive works in order to know how to be a better captor. So Bar Ditcher said the same exact thought from the Pasek in Tehillim, in Kufritas, in the Mems, you know, because by the Oasis, in Ois Mem, there's a Pasek. It says, What does that mean? . For my enemies, I could be wiser towards your Mitzvahs. Says the Bar Ditcher for the same exact word. I learn from those that are trying to go against me what works. If I can learn what works to go against me, I know that's what works. That's the patent. Those are the tricks. Those are the techbulas. Those are the game plans that actually do bring about results.
So I'm going to use those same exact things in a constructive manner. The whole entire Elul and Avodahs now is like we're going to war. We're going to battle. That's what Ludovic Hashem talks about, right? Ludovic, period. Hashem, Oyev, Yishu. That's what it talks about. There's a big war, there's a big battle waging. Which one? The one our own Sprit Sha, our own Rech Nis. That's what's going on. We need to work and to push ourselves in a way that we're going to be able to be on top of our game. . He doesn't ask for us. He doesn't ask us necessarily to win. The Gemara Baruch Ha says, He can only win when the Akadosh Baruch Ha is helped. It's not you against the Yitzhar. You'll lose.
But it's important that you have the ruts and that you want to be on top of your game. You want to be on top of it. You want to be conscious about it. You want to think about it. Then you're properly attacking Elul. So if everyone together with me for the next month or so is able to really stress. L'David. Period. Hashem oireh v'yishin. Mimiro. Hashem is my light and my salvation. There's no reason to be afraid.
